Are there chaperones on your trips?

Yes, we have a 1:10 chaperone to student ratio, and all chaperones are at least 21 years old. POST could not run without our wonderful chaperones! We are also always looking for more. Contact trip leads if you’re interested in chaperoning a trip!

What is your risk management policy?

Each trip lead comes up with a personalized risk management guide according to what activities will be happening on the trip. This includes where the nearest hospital is, what chaperones can drive, and other things.  Please contact Jen at director@post84.org with any other questions regarding our policies.

What safety certifications do your staff have?

Our staff are equipped with an extensive array of certifications in order to keep our campers safe on trips.  Staff are required to keep these certifications up to date throughout their time with the organization if they wish to help lead specific activities.  Kayaking station staff are required to be lifeguard certified, and many also have the added certification of the Northwest Test. Many of our staff are also CPR, first aid certified, and Wilderness First Aid Certified.

Are there student drivers on trips?

All drivers must be at least 18 years old.

What is your reimbursement policy?

We offer reimbursements up to one week before the trip. This is because we have to buy food and various trip supplies based on the number of attendees on each trip. If you are waitlisted from a trip, you will be reimbursed in full. If you would like a reimbursement, please contact the individual trip lead. Unfortunately, trip payments do not roll over onto later trips.

Can I attend trips if I do not go to Garfield?

Of course! All students are welcome. Most trips leave from Garfield, so please contact the individual trip leads if you have any questions regarding transportation.

How old do I have to be to come on a trip?

Our trips are meant for high school students. Incoming freshmen are welcome to come on our first trip of the year, which is before the school year, Ramblewood. Graduating seniors may attend any summer trip before Ramblewood.

What should I do if I need gear for a trip?

POST has an extensive collection of gear that campers can borrow, free of charge, in order to make their trip more enjoyable and safe. This includes, but is not limited to, sleeping bags, jackets, hiking boots, tent, rock climbing gear, and more. Please contact Abby Jeweler, our gearmaster, at 206-794-9594 or at gear@post84.org if you would like to borrow anything.

If you have any more questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to any EC member about any topic.
